Broken Aro Review

Broken AroBroken Aro by Jen Wylie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. Once I got past the first chapter or so I really started to get into the story. The characters are very likable and have mostly good personalities. The heroine is not annoyingly helpless like some that I've come across in my readings. The only thing I really do not care for is the semi-love-triangle, it looks that in the coming books that it will develop into more. Overall this is a great read for those that enjoy fantasy YA and are tired of only reading about vampires, weres, and angels.

Across the Universe Review

Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1)Across the Universe by Beth Revis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I loved it, this book and the series it's in has become on of my favorites. I usually don't like space opera as a genre for any of media from books to movies to anime, I've never been into it or found it boring. This book is the exception to my rule, I loved the story and the characters and can't wait to read A Million Suns to find out what happens next.

I actually read this book in January, I didn't have a blog back then so I'm reviewing now. I will review A Million Suns when I finish that as well. View all my reviews

Why I love YA - Contest Entry

The reason I love YA is because of the stories, without a bunch of graphic sex scenes. I enjoy reading romance stories with out tons of sex thrown in. Adult romance stories have their place, and I can enjoy them sometimes, but I like the option of not having to read it all the time. Some YA books do have sex scenes but not to the degree that adult books do.

Another reason I enjoy the YA genre is because of the fandom, I like being able to talk to allot of different people about the books I love. The YA genre appeals to a wide range of ages, not just young adults, so it's fun to see the different opinions of the different ages groups about different books.

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2)Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Did I think that this book was as good as it's predecessor? No. Does that mean this book was bad? No. I did enjoy reading this book, but just not as much as the first. The story and plot are okay, I liked the middle to the end more than the first half. I also liked the introduction of the new characters like Finnick and Beetee. The cliff hanger at the end kind of annoyed me since I don't prefer them compared to a real ending but still, I can't wait to read Maockingjay.

Burning BlueBurning Blue by Paul Griffin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was a surprise. I normally don't go for this type, mainly sticking to paranormal and dystopian but the synopsis intrigued me. I was lucky enough to win an arc of this book on Goodreads. To me it starts out kind of slow, but picks up from there and you're always questioning yourself trying to piece together who did it and why. This book touches on some touchy subjects but not in a bad way. The main characters, Nichole and Jay, were very likable. To me this book will leave you guessing till the end.

Insurgent (Divergent, #2)Insurgent by Veronica Roth
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a book I was waiting for. I loved Divergent so I knew I had to read this book. Is this book better than Divergent? No, but I do believe that it is just as good. The plot had a good pace, it was easy for me to keep up with what was going on. And the ending was just wow, I usually don't like books that end in cliffhangers but this just left me wanting to read the next book right now.

Bookstore Closes

My local bookstore or more specifically the one nearest to my home is in the process of going out of business. It's a sad day since this bookstore is one I could actually walk to.

Right now they are having a going out of business sale, which is increasing the foot traffic in the store. I went today, I had some book trade-in credit with them that I needed to use.

I picked up a used copy of Matched by Ally Condie in paperback.

This is a sad time, this is the third bookstore to close in this general area. RIP Well Loved Books.
